Otis Update

The vet called us this morning and his fears were confirmed. Otis has lymphoma cancer. It has spread to all of his lymph nodes and it's only a matter of time before it affects his whole body. The vet gives him about 6-8 weeks. We have decided to give Otis the best life possible here at home and not go through with the chemo. According to the vet, the chemo will only prolong his life by 6 months, a year at the most, and who knows what quality of life he will have. I don't know if we are making the best decision or not. The vet said we will know when life is getting to difficult for him and at that point we will have to make a decision about what we want to do. I am not looking forward to that day. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Right now he does not seem to be in any pain, he is just very mellow-which for those of you that know Otis know that him being mellow is just not normal! We gave him some children's motrin yesterday but it didn't seem to do much. We love Otis so very much, he was our child before we had children. Life will not be the same without him.
