My Battle Wounds

Here are some wonderful pictures of my battle wounds from surgery. Aren't these some beauties! Now let's just pray that the lymph nodes come back clear!

I'm moving around a little bit better. I am still in quite a bit of pain.

I was trying not to take the pain meds since I can't breastfeed while I am taking them. However, the pain has won. I MUST take the pain meds.

It just kills me to have to pump and dump it! That feels like such a waste! But, since I don't have much of a choice I guess I will just suck it up and do it.

I also have two incisions in my groin. That is the spot that hurts like hell. However, I didn't feel very comfortable with putting those pics on here. Pics of my pee-yes, pics of my privates-no!

This is where they took some more skin from the previous incision on my calf.
Just in case you didn't see it, here's another pic!
I didn't realize how swollen my leg was until I saw this picture!

Yes, you should definitely be taking your pain medicine. That looks painful! Maybe you could ask for some meds that are safe to take while breastfeeding? After my gallbladder surgery, they gave me percocets, which are safe to take while breastfeeding.

Ouch! You take those meds as long as you feel the need! Hope you have a good day!

Did you go and get a pedicure before you had your surgery? Because those are some nice looking toes (love the color!). Whenever I have a dr's appt where I know I'll have my shoes off, I go for a pedicure, lol.

I know what you mean about pumping and dumping. Can you aks your dr if there's another pain med you can take?

I am Heather's mother and she just called me to tell me that they got the test results back this morning. They were not good. They showed that the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes and she will have to go through chemotherapy. I am writing this post to ask all of you to pray for her and support her at this time. Heather is not taking this well and I know how much she enjoys her bloggy friends (I hope that is the correct term). I know that you are people she has never met, but she feels so close to all of you and your comments mean so much to her. Please keep her in your prayers. Marsha

That is quite the incision.

Thank goodness for all of the early pumping before right? At least you had some stored up.

Hang in there.

I don't know you, but found your blog through a couple of other blogs.

Just wanted to let you know that I was just at a conference where Dr. Hale (the author of Medication and Mother's Milk) spoke. He said that the pain killer of choice for lactating mother's is morphine and that it is perfectly safe to take and still breastfeed since it can't pass through to breast milk.

I highly recommend his book to help with breast milk decisions regarding drugs and chemo.

Good luck!!!
