Still Love Me?

Would you guys think less of me if I was considering hiring a cleaning lady? I would say it's all hypothetical, but, well, it's not. I really am thinking about it.

I looked around my house this week and realized how gross it really is. It's picked up, but when you really start looking around you start to notice how dusty and grimy it actually is. My husband does a super job with the kids, but a housekeeper he is not.

Today I had a lady come over to give me an estimate to clean and I was EMBARRASSED by how dusty it is!

I'm a pretty clean person. I just don't have the energy to clean the house. When I do have energy I want to spend it playing with my kids, not cleanig the house!

I've only had two estimates so far but they seemed reasonable. (Those of you around here, do you have any names and numbers you could give me?)

The bad part is that we know we will have medical bills coming in, so is it something that we can really justify? Ok, so is it something that Cody can really justify? I already have! I am willing to do without things just so I can have a cleaning lady.

Food? Totally overrated.

Milk? Not that important.

Toilet Paper? Really? Do we need it?

See, totally justified:)

I say go for it. Seeing your house like that will just make you feel bad. That is the opposite of how you need to feel right now. Think of the stress it would take away from you and your husband. And a sparkling clean house must promote healthiness right????? :)

I think you should do it, Heather. Why have that looming around you and I know that when you are feeling good the last the thing you want to do is clean. I think it'll make ya feel better and is totally justified!

I think you should get one! Your house will be sparkly clean and you'll be able to spend so much more time with the kids!

You should go for it!!! Other things are more important. It doesn't make you less of a person getting help and that would help!! I know I would if I could!

I got the van when I totaled the car. It didn't make much sense to get another car when we would really need the van when the girls got into their big girl carseats. And even though I loved my car, it's not too bad. It really is much easier to travel in it.

Jet just cracks me up with his hair and his clothes. Of course we buy them for him, but some of the things he puts together. What you can't see in the photo is his bright red mud boots.

I hope you are feeling better also too. We would love to see you. We'll be in Emporia once a month the rest of the year. If you ever feel up to it let me know. I wish we could get all the way down there, but with Andy being in school I'm not sure when it will work out.

Take care--

Go for it! I'm thinking about it, too, and I don't have the schedule that you do. I will give up just about anything to have someone else clean my house!!

You're east side, right? My SIL lives out there, and is getting her business going for cleaning houses if you're interested in her info...email me if you are: redsaab at hotmail dot com

I have one! and i love it! Do not feel embarrassed. You will get over it the first time you walk into a clean house...that you didn't have to clean. Although, I think I would rather have a laundry lady!

Email Sally about her sis...she's a great friend of mine!

Would you think less of me if I called you INSANE!!?? You have every reason to get a cleaning lady. If you don't think you need one then NO ONE needs one. I say make the call today and don't give it a second thought. Yes, it is an extra expense, but it is a justifiable expense. DO IT!!

I just re-read my comment and it sounds like I'm shouting at you. I'm not. I'm just passionate when it comes to anything related to getting out of cleaning the house.

Do it! You'll feel better about your house, and you're 100% right to want to use your energy on your kids. What will they remember more? Mom playing with them, or mom keeping the house clean? Find the money and do it.

If it's within your means, go for it! I would if we could do it financially!!

I would hire a cleaning lady in a millisecond if I could. And you have more than a million reasons to go for it. No guilt, my friend!

Do it, Heather! You deserve it. I live down in South Texas, and I am the only one in my group of friends that doesn't have a housekeeper that comes to the house regularly (like once or twice, sometimes three times a week). It is wild.

I am curious what the estimate was that they gave you? About once a month (since I have been feeling crummy- pregnant with three kids, three and under), I have been splurging and having someone come do the hard-core cleaning. She whips in out in like 5 hours and charges $45. Do you believe that?

Food, milk and toilet paper are totally overrated!

I had a group of frineds pitch in and hire me a cleaning service a couple times when Dillon was having chemo. At the time we were in the hospital 8 hours a day 5 days a week and then I still had to administer meds to him through his chest tube all night long at home- I was whipped and the house was really suffering!

I loved walking in to a clean house when I arrived home after a seemingly endless day!!! It felt like huge burden lifted. (I secretly wish I could have them come back NOW! lol)

Go ahead and have someone come in and help you for awhile. You wont be sorry! You need time to rest and focus on yourself and your family- instead of the dust!

I say, absolutely! I agree with you..who wants to clean when you can spend time with those precious little ones!

We have a lawn service maintain our yard. I don't feel the least bit guilty about it.

And you're right, food and toilet paper are totally overrated. Get the cleaning lady.

At this point, I say whatever will make you feel better.
Food and toilet paper...not so much.
But a clean, tidy house...now that always makes me feel better.
I don't have someone clean on a regular basis, but every other month or so I splurge and get someone to help me do some deep cleaning. I love my house and my family so much more when she comes.
Do it.
You are so worth it.

Before having my own children I never understood why people had someone clean their house for them. I remember having specific conversations about it with my husband and it just seemed weird to me. But now I can completely understand it. And I now have one!! And I love it!! I was like you and did not want to spend my weekend or free time cleaning. Having fun with the family was more imporant. I say go for it!

We have one and I justify it by cutting back on other things, I don't get my nails done, I dont drink starbucks every day, and I only have them come every other weeks, so in between visits I feel like I can mangae the mess with out goings all out. Look the last thing you are going to want to do when you are feeling good is clean! Let someone else take that burden away from you.

After all you have been through, I would say you have earned it. This time with your young children is priceless.

pretty sure if anyone deserves a cleaning lady it's you!!

merry maids here you come :)

Go for it! There has got to be something good coming out of all this mess you are going through!!!

Do. It. I am totally spoiled. My aunt bought me a year of cleaning for a baby shower gift. Knowing that my floors are clean every other week delights my heart, and gives me that extra time to just be "mommy."

Oh my goodness....I am a stay at home mom and I have a cleaning lady. She only comes 2 times a month but it is just heaven sent to walk into the bathroom and the toilets are CLEAN!!!

Love it.

Food? milk? toilet paper? overrated. Clean sparkly home? Fabulous. Go for the cleaning service, you deserve to spend time enjoying your family!
p.s. and if you don't like the one you hire you can always say thank you, good-bye, and find a great one!

Adcock Circus said...

Just do it and find one that does laundry too!

Get that cleaning hired! That would be a dream come true for me. I had a girl come a couple times of month and it was great! Go for it!

I say you are totally justified. Go for it. You deserve it.

I think you deserve a cleaning lady!!! One time my mom sent her cleaning lady over to our house when they were away. I was in HEAVEN!! She cleaned things I never even think of cleaning!! Pure heaven. I say go for it! More important to spend time with your babies and hubby!

HEATHER I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE SOMEONE COME INTO THEIR HOUSE AND HAVE IT CLEANED AND NONE OF THEM ARE GOING THROUGH WHAT YOU ARE!! GO FOR IT!! THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY TO SPEND WITH FAMILY AND MAKE SURE THE HOUSE STAYS SOME WHAT CLEAN. DON'T FEEL BAD AT ALL ABOUT DOING IT! MISS YOU!!
