I Am Sew Cool

Ok so my title is corny, but I couldn't think of anything else creative!

Lately, Kyler and I have been making cookies galore. Kyler is a wonderful helper, however he is a very messy helper. This bothered me. So I went searching for an apron for him. They were expensive! I was shocked!

So, after some more hunting I found some free directions on how to make an apron. I used some of my scrap material from his big boy quilt and waa-lah, an apron is born!

Since I was so crafty with the apron, I decided to take it a step further and make Ella a Valentine's Day jumper. With the assistance of my wonderful mother-in-law, I was able to make this adorable jumper for my baby girl. I think I may do this for every holiday. It was easy to make and it is adorable!

These are the buttons on the straps. I love them!

I figured, why stop there, I had material left and a little bit of time and energy so I made each kid a pair of pants. Ella's are pretty cute. Kyler's, on the other hand, will not be worn out of the house!

Yes, they are a bit uneven. Hey, don't judge, I'm new at this!

So, for further reference, please call me by my new name: Miss Suzy Homemaker:)

I also made 6 of these bad boys:

Any one know what they are?
They are hemp inserts for Ella's cloth diapers. It was WAY cheaper to make them.

I couldn't sew to save my life. You did a great job and I LOVE the jumper for Ella.

Great job! That looks like so much fun! I have a sewing machine but I have not pulled it out in years...I can make pillows and basic curtains. Sewing clothes intimidates me! The jumper is so adorable...great idea about making one for each holiday, holiday clothes are so expensive especially when considering that they are not worn that often!

SO impressed! I have a brand new fancy sewing/embroidery machine, and while I can embroidery, I need to learn how to sew. I'm currently reading 3 books! So cool! You could do something with your new talent . . . please go read my post from today if you haven't seen it yet!

It's definitely way cheaper to make the inserts!!! Do you have a serger? It's better to use one if you have one, but I don't and I found mine were okay, they just started to fray after a couple year's use. That Valentine jumper is adorable - Ella will be a cutie in it :-) Cannot believe she will be turning one soon (and Leah in a couple weeks - yikes!!).

Seriously. You are sew cool indeed! I once helped my grandmother sew throw pillows for my bed. Well, she made five and I made one. And, trust me, you can tell exactly which one was mine!

you really are sew cool! I was making these slick letter shirts for the girls when my sewing machine broke down right before christmas - how annoying!

Love the jumper for Ella!

Love the jumper as well! Sewwww adorable ;) Seriously. I wish I could sew. I've made a few blankets before, and knitted a couple scarves, but all were rather silly.

Love the Valentine's Day jumper. How cute is that!

Sewing is one thing I never crafted. (Believe me, I am not crafty at all & learning to sew would probably be a disaster!) Your creations are amazing.

Enjoy & I look forward to seeing many more of your sewing creations!

Dear Heather,
How clever!! Yes, you are on the way! There's lots of things you can make. I might even have a pattern for something!!

Cooking and sewing----I am proud of you. A good way to save money, too! And I enjoy doing both of those things. And there is painting---now house-cleaning is not so much fun!!

I was going to reply to your e-mail about Ella turning a year. There will be other years---10---16---18---21, and on and on! The heck of it is that your years are going on, too! You'll enjoy them all (except yours!!)

Love ya!

Hi Heather! Just finished reading your blog about your new found hobby of sewing, and I can't resist commenting. You know the hemp insert? Well, you scared the crap out of me because I thought that you had resorted to making your own maxi pads! Now that would be going to extremes of saving money.......if you did that, I was going to send you a donation!
Anyway, loved the jumper and apron, but the uneven pants are my favorite!
Glad to see you're having fun with this!
Take care,
Becky

I'm with Becky. I got scared for a minute too. I really thought that was one of those reusable maxi-pads. Now I try to be green but I don't think I could go that far. Anyway, way to go on all you cute crafts. Love the jumper!!
