Hello Baby!

A baby has arrived-unfortunately it wasn't mine! Cody's brother, Kris, and sister in law, Kim, had their Baby Boy yesterday afternoon. Kaleb Brodie Snyder was born December 30, 2007 at 3:23PM. He weighed 8lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He joins brothers Alex (7) and Aidan (2), and sister Katie (5). Kim and Kaleb are doing great and will hopefully be home this evening.

New Boots

For Christmas, I got some cowboy boots. I am not sure why I wanted them I just thought they would be cool. It's not like I have anything even remotely cowboy but that's ok. They look really cute on and believe it or not they are quite comfortable. As you can see from the pics Kyler also agrees with that! He was even able to walk a little bit in them, even though one is facing forward and one is facing backwards and I believe they are even on the wrong feet! Cute isn't he! The pink books work real well with the camo pants! We're working on him putting on shoes by himself-does this count? Don't ask me about the smile-daddy told him to say "Cheese" and this is what he did.

Christmas with the Snyder's

Today, Dec. 26th, we celebrated Christmas with the Snyder's. We headed to Cody's brother's house in Maize for the big event. Kyler had a blast playing with his cousins, Alex, Katie, and Aidan, and all their toys. I was afraid we were going to have to leave him there! It was just like being at "Toys R Us"! We left around 6PM and Kyler feel asleep on the way home. We haven't been able to wake him up and keep him awake so I guess Daddy will be up with him early tomorrow morning:)

Merry Christmas!

This is the new Crash and Go speedway.

Check out that adorable grin!

This year Cody, Kyler and I celebrated Christmas at home. Usually we head to my folks house and then to my Grandparents house near Topeka. However, since it is so close to my due date I didn't feel very comfortable driving that far (plus my Dr said no way). Knowing my luck I would go into labor on the Turnpike! So instead of heading to Topeka, Penny and Mike (Cody's folks) came down for Christmas Eve dinner and then Mike had to head to work so Penny stayed and went to church with us and then stayed the night. Unfortunately, Kyler decided to wake up at 4:45AM to see if Santa had come. I actually don't think he gets the whole Santa thing but he definitely wanted to open presents! Mike arrived around 6:30AM so we let Kyler open his presents from mommy and daddy then. I think I went just a little overboard with presents! The kid had so many! I probably could have just wrapped up old toys and he would have been just as happy! He just liked unwrapping them! A couple of his favorite toys are his "Shake N Go Crash Up Speedway" by Mattel. He just loves to drive his cars on it. What a life saver that has been! He also loves his Mack Track with Lightning McQueen in it and all his little "Cars" characters. Pretty much all it takes to keep the kid happy are toys that have to do with bye-byes or the movie "Cars." Hopefully girls are just as easy! The bad part is Kyler is not much for playing by himself. He is constantly asking Cody or I to play with him. It's not so easy for mommy to get down on the floor. Yesterday I was laying on the floor and had to have Cody help me up because my back hurt so bad after laying on the floor! Only two more weeks (or less!) and we will have a baby girl at our house! We keep asking Kyler if he is excited about Baby G and unfortunately the kid is quite honest and tells us no. Oye! Boy is he in for a shock!

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and have a safe New Year's.

Things I NEVER thought I would do...

until I became a mommy, that is!

*Give an enema (enough said!)
*Get excited when my child poops!
*Use my shirt as a Kleenex because I did not have a Kleenex.
*Not care that I just used my shirt as a Kleenex!
*Change a zillion diapers a day (ok so not a zillion but it sure seems like it some days).
*Find sippy cups filled with rotten milk in random places throughout the house or car.
*Wash my own sheets 5 days in a row because they were thrown up on, peed on, or pooped on.
*Adjust my own diet just so I could breastfeed (I really missed cheese!)
*Spend $25 on a small can of formula that only lasted 3 days-let's hope Baby G will be a little cheaper or I may have to breastfeed forever!
*Play cars for hours on end.
*Watch the movie "Cars" 3 times a day (or more) The sad part is I still laugh at my favorite parts!
*Say good-bye to the candy and hello to the fruits just so Kyler will like fruit also. (Don't worry I still sneak in a Twix or two during naptime!)
*Actually understand what my child is saying when no one else has a clue.
*Cry when my child cries or when he leaves me.
*Think that sleeping in is 6AM instead of 10AM.
*Be able to clean up vomit, urine, and poop without blinking an eye-even when the before mentioned is not from my child!

And last, but not least,
I never thought that I could love another person so much that it hurts.

Feeling Good!

Kyler is finally back to his old self! YEAH! He is eating and drinking and playing like the normal 2 year old that he was last week! In fact, this morning he was so hungry that he was nice enough to wake mommy up at 3:45AM to eat! I was not thrilled! However, I woke daddy up at 5:30 so he could hang with Kyler and I went back to bed until 7:00. It's sad when 7AM is sleeping in:( I sure do miss the days when I could sleep until 10AM. However, I wouldn't trade being a mommy for anything.

9 months and Counting...

Yesterday I hit the "9 month/36 week" mark. Why do they say you are pregnant for 9 months when it is actually 10? How annoying! At my Dr's appt today my tummy measured 33 cm, last week I was 35 cm so that means Baby G has dropped. I was wondering if she had because every time she gets the hiccups it seriously feels like she is going to fall right out! I never had that experience with Kyler, he didn't drop until I went into labor. She did an internal exam and couldn't feel my cervix so she is guessing that I am not dilated. Hopefully we will be able to tell next week. Here are some lovely pics of mommy feeling quite huge. I realize that I could be bigger, but that doesn't mean that I'm not uncomfortable!!
PS Cody was sitting on the floor with Kyler when he took these pictures (hence the angle!)

Kyler Update

Well, Kyler has been having a bit of a rough time lately. On Sunday night we ended up in Immediate Care because Kyler was running a 102 temp, lethargic, was having a difficult time breathing, and wouldn't eat or drink anything. After lots of x-rays they determined that he was extremely constipated. They considered admitting him to get some fluids into him, but luckily they let us go home and work on getting the bowel out. After an enema and some Miralax he finally emptied some of that stuff out. By the morning he had had 7 dirty diapers. I should also mention that during this time anything he ate or drank he threw right back up. The Dr said that was because he had no where else for it to go since he was so constipated. We headed to Dr. P's office on Monday for some more x-rays to make sure all of the bowel was out. Apparently it wasn't so it was back home to try to empty it all out. Luckily all it took was some apple juice. On Tuesday he finally ate some lunch and for dinner he wanted pancakes, so he got them. That was when the real fun started. Now instead of constipation we are dealing with diarrhea. Kyler hasn't really ever had that issue so this is all new to me. We have to take a bath with every diaper and that is tricky because we can't soak his incision. Now he has some stool in his incision and I am having a very tricky time cleaning that out. Kyler isn't real thrilled about it either! Hopefully this will clear up tonight or tomorrow and we will be back to normal. Please keep K-man in your thoughts and prayers.
What would a post be without some pics! These are some pics of Kyler with his huge balloon bouquet from Grandma and Grandpa Smith. I usually am very picky about Kyler having pants on but we were leaving for a wedding and I noticed there was food on them so I had to wash them real quick. Kyler was probably quite comfy without pants on though!

On another note, I am also asking for some more prayers for my good friend Rebecca Schultz and her family. Her father passed away very suddenly on Sunday and it has been quite rough on her and her family. The funeral is on Saturday so please be thinking about them. Kake news did a brief article on Becca's dad. To check it out click on the following link:

This is Kyler before the surgery.

This is Kyler after he got the good stuff!

Here is Kyler after the surgery.

Here we are on our way home. Doesn't piggy look cute. The nurses dressed him up in a scrub hat, mask, and a band aid on his abdomen. Daddy had to carry Kyler because he wanted his legs bent underneath him and it was killing mommy's tummy.

Kyler's Big Day

Our day started off quite early this morning. We had to leave for the hospital around 6am. I was a little nervous because Kyler could not eat or drink anything and he HAS to have his milk or juice in the morning. He actually did really well until we got to the hospital. As I was getting him out of the car he seemed to realize that he had not had his juice and just started screaming for it. We got him calmed down and got all checked in and everything and then he went potty with mommy. On the way back to the waiting room he saw the candy and pop machines and we lost it again. We couldn't leave the candy machines or he screamed and totally disturbed everyone. So mommy and Kyler set in front of the candy machine and discussed what was in it for like an hour. Good times!
We finally got called up to the Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Unit (PASC)where we met a whole bunch of different doctors and nurses (all who were very nice by the way). About 30 minutes before they took Kyler back they gave him some "magic juice" that was supposed to relax him. Boy did that work! After about 15 minutes he was slurring his words and leaning to one side. He looked like a little drunk 2 year old! He was very happy though! He didn't even cry when I left his side-I did though!

As most of you know, we initially went in because Kyler had what was called a "Communicating Hydrocele." A hydrocele is a collection of fluid in the scrotal sac of male infants that drains downward from the abdominal cavity. Luckily, it is not painful, but it does make one testicle look huge at times and small at other times because the fluid goes up and down. The only way to correct this is through surgery. When they got in there they discovered that Kyler also had one testicle that had not descended. That was a bit of a surprise. But since there was so much fluid in there it was sort of hidden. He ended up having what is called an "Orchidopexy" operation. He is pretty drugged and they said to keep him that way until Saturday evening or Sunday. They had to make one incision in his abdomen to drain out the fluid and tie off the tube and they had to make another incision in his scrotum. The surgery itself took about an hour and then he was in recovery for about 30 minutes. Then we got to go back and hold him. We were about to leave the hospital around noon. He is doing pretty good tonight. He is playing with his "Bye-bye's" right now and will be heading to bed in just a bit. His incision is quite bloody and his boy parts are all black and blue and swollen. He is having a very hard time laying down and pulling himself up but all in all he is doing pretty well. Hopefully tonight won't be to rough on him and he'll be moving a little better tomorrow. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Pictures with Santa

For Santa pictures we went to Parents as Teachers because, well, we could take our own pics for free. Last year Kyler hated Santa and screamed at the sight of him so I really didn't want to waste the money on pictures if he did that again. Luckily, Kyler did not scream. In fact, he just sort of hung out. He told Santa that he wanted "Bye-bye's" (cars) for Christmas and that was all he would say. The rest of the time I don't think he quite knew what to think. He did have a good time playing in the play room though and he screamed when we left. We had to go around and say bye-bye to all the toys before he would leave calmly. Only my son huh!

New coat means a new smile (apparently!)

I wanted to get a picture for Grandma Smith of Kyler in the coat that she got him for his birthday. When I told him to say cheese for the picture apparently that meant that he also had to cheese. Every picture I took he did this cheesy little smile of his! It is pretty cute-I just hope he doesn't do that when we get our pictures taken at Camera Angles!

I also include a pic of Miss Belle, just because she's so darn cute also!

First Snowfall

This morning we woke up to snow on the ground. Kyler and Otis (our boxer) just couldn't wait to get outside and play in the snow. Due to Kyler's asthma I was very hesitant to let him go outside. However, the kid can be very persuasive when he screams for half an hour! So finally, around 8am Mommy did a breathing treatment with him, and then Daddy got him dressed in 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of socks, a heavy winter coat, gloves, and a stocking cap and he got to go outside to play in the snow. He actually enjoyed himself and he was able to breathe ok. However, I do believe I will be heading to town to buy him a snowsuit for the next time.

Thanksgiving Tractor Ride

For Thanksgiving this year we celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa Snyder in Winfield on Wednesday and then went to Great-Grandma and Grandpa Smith's in Berryton for Thanksgiving with the Smith Family on Thursday. When we were at Great Grandma and Grandpa's Kyler saw the "Big Tractor" and all he could talk about was riding that tractor. He just kept saying "Baby ride Great Grandpa's tractor." Yes, I know, the kid calls himself baby. We're working on it-this just started a few weeks ago so if anyone has any suggestions on how to stop it that would be great! Anyway, my dad and I finally took him on a tractor ride. He actually seemed to enjoy himself this time, probably because it was an enclosed cab. After the ride he even got to "drive" the tractor himself!

Rough times!

Well, let me tell you, this last week has been filled with more Dr appts then I know what to do with! Between Kyler and mommy we should have definitely hit our deductible by now!! It all started last Thursday when I took Kyler to his 2 year well child check up. Everything was going well, until the Dr came in! When he saw Kyler's height (36 inches-67%ile) compared to his weight (23 lbs-less then 5%ile) he was a little concerned. I told him the kid eats like a horse, but he still wants me to try to get some more calories into him-wish me luck! Dr. Palacio then proceeded to check his boy parts. Again, he became concerned. Apparently one of Kyler's testicles is larger then the other and it could possibly be a hernia. He told me to keep a very close eye on them. Great-just what every mother wants to do-keep a close eye on her son's testicles! But, being the good mommy that I am-I did. On Sunday night, one of his testicles became huge so I called the Dr's emergency number and they told me to call Dr P in the morning. I did and of course Dr P was gone so we saw the Nurse Practitioner. She thought it was a hernia and that we needed to see a Pediatric Surgeon immediately. Well, apparently immediately was Dec 3rd! That total freaked me out! His poor little testicle continued to grow so I called the Dr back and they were able to get us in to see a surgeon on Thursday (11/15). She took one look at his testicle and said he has what is called a Communicating Hydrocele. This is much better than a hernia. A hydrocele is when there is fluid in the testicle that shouldn't be there. He does have to have surgery to repair it, but the hydrocele is not supposed to be painful and it is in an in-patient/out-patient surgery. It will probably be harder on mommy then on Kyler! I was quite to relieved to learn that, one-I wasn't going crazy and there really was something wrong and two-that it is relatively easy to fix and it is not hurting him right now. I am sure it is uncomfortable though! Kyler is currently scheduled to have surgery on December 7th so please keep him (and me!) in your thoughts and prayers that day.

On another note, I had to make an emergency run to Wesley Hospital on Tuesday night. That afternoon something started leaking and when I called the Dr, her nurse told me to go to the hosptial to make sure it wasn't amniotic fluid. After much drama, we found out it was not amniotic fluid after all and all is well. My story wasn't nearly as fun as Kyler's now was it!

Kyler's birthday party

This Saturday we had Kyler's birthday party at our house. We had a Clifford theme since he seems to love that big red dog! We had a wonderful turnout for his party and he received more toys then we know what to with! Thank you to everyone that was able to make it!

Kyler opening presents

Kyler opening presents, with a little help from daddy.

More birthday pics

In this picture Kyler is just slightly upset because some ice cream dropped onto his pants. If you look really close I swear you can see his tonsils!

More Birthday Pictures

Kyler trying ice cream for the 2nd time. The first time was on his 1st birthday and his tummy didn't handle it to well. Hopefully his tummy will handle it better this time.

Kyler at Applebee's

Today (November 6, 2007) Kyler Michael turned 2 years old. I can't believe that my baby boy is now 2. Kyler is taking it quite well, mommy however has cried a few times because he is getting so big. Before you know it he is going to be 15 and not need his mommy anymore-let alone cry every time I leave the room! I am not looking forward to that! For his birthday we went to Mom's Day Out at the church and he got to play with his friends, then we took him out to eat at Applebee's and then came home so he could open his presents. At Applebee's Kyler got an ice cream dessert because it was his birthday. This is only the 2nd time Kyler has ever had ice cream because of his issues with milk. We are slowly getting him onto milk (thank goodness!) but I do think the ice cream gave him a little shock because it was so cold. In the pictures above I had to add them one at a time so I tried to describe what he was doing at the time.

Kidfest 2007

Saturday we took Kyler to Kidfest at Century II in Wichita. The main reason we wanted to take him was because Clifford was there and he just loves Clifford. In fact, that is the theme for his 2nd birthday. However, mommy has had a very hard time finding anything Clifford so I was hoping to get some good pics of Kyler and Clifford. However, because of all the people I think Kyler was a little overwhelmed and really wasn't into Clifford. He really liked the toy trains though!
