My daughter, the multi-tasker! Way to make use of two toys at once, the Bumbo and the Aquarium toy.

While We Cooked, The Boys Played!

Made in the Shade!

Kyler has always had this uncanny bond to his Grandpa. When Grandpa showed up today nobody else even mattered! So while mom and I were off cooking, the boys (and Ella) made a trip to Exploration Place. Unfortunately, I have no pics of them having a BLAST there because I had the camera. If I would have known they were going to do something fun like that I would have given the camera to them. Oh well. I do have some pics of Kyler and Grandpa hanging out in the shade after a long day of playing outside.

I Cooked...

My mother was THRILLED that I was taking her picture-can't ya tell!

...well sort of! My parents came down today so that mom and I could prepare some meals at Dream Dinners. We now have a freezer full of food that just needs to be thawed out and cooked. As some of you may know, I HATE to cook. Not only that, it's really hard to do with a two year old begging to help and a 4 month old that just KNOWS when I am busy. I am hoping (i.e. praying) that this will simplify my life just a bit.

Mmmmm, that looks yummy!

Mama's Night Out

Last night I had the pleasure of enjoying a few hours out to dinner (and drinks) with some friends. It was so nice to have some adult conversation. Most of my conversations are with a 2 year old and they involve train tables, pottying, and Clifford the Big Red Dog! Thank you ladies for a wonderful evening and thank you to my hubby for having the kids in bed (sort of) when I got home!

Ella-4 month well child

Today Ella had her 4 month well child checkup. She had to get several shots and take the rotavirus vaccine. Luckily, Ella loves the rotavirus vaccine so she had no issues sucking that done. She was not fond of the shots however! But then again, who is! The Dr was very pleased with her weight gain and wants us to wait until around 6 months to start cereals since she is breastfed. I may start them a little earlier though if she is ready.

Ella is getting to be a big (huge) baby girl she weighs 15 lbs 3 oz (79%ile) and her length is 24.5 inches (55%ile). I think the next time I buy diapers I am going to have to buy size 3's! I don't think Kyler wore a size 3 until he was 1! As far as her fine and gross motor skills go she seems to be right on track, if not just a bit ahead of schedule. Lately she has decided that if she is on her back she needs to roll to her tummy, then she gets mad because she is on her tummy! I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come!

Turtle Class

A real live turtle shell-ok maybe not, but it's close right?
Look Dad, I can move just like a turtle.
I love crawling through the tunnel at zoo class.

Today Kyler attended Zoo Class. This month the animal was turtles. Kyler just loves to attend these classes and has even made a couple of friends. Unfortunately (for me-I LOVE zoo class), since we now have Ella Cody gets to take Kyler to zoo class and I stay home with Ella. In zoo class they learned what turtles eat, how turtles move, where turtles live, and what their shell feels like. One of Kyler's favorite things about zoo class is seeing the real live animals at the end of the class. Today the kids got to hold the turtle and watch it crawl around on the floor. I think Cody and Kyler both had a good time in zoo class today!

Planting Flowers

Mommy and Kyler playing in the dirt.

Check out how big those gloves are!

See how I had to hand him the dirt?!

The finished product.

He was so proud of himself he just carried it around for the longest time.

Thank you for all of your hard work and help K.

At school I received some really pretty flowers as gifts from some of my students so tonight Kyler and I ran to Lowe's to get some flower pots. Of course, I couldn't just buy the flower pots. I ended up buying some more flowers to plant and I let Kyler pick out a flower and a pot to plant. Of course we had to have gloves also because Kyler hates to be dirty (I know, I know, I've ruined the child- blah, blah, blah), anyway, he really wanted the purple Dora gloves but I talked him into some "manly" farm animal gloves. When we got home Kyler was very eager to help me plant the flowers. The funny part was that his gloves were way to big so he couldn't get any dirt out of the bag so I had to scoop out the dirt and put it in his hand (with the glove on) and then he would dump it into the pot. It was a long process! After we finally got his flower planted he was sooooo proud of it. He just carried it around. I told him he could pick out a spot by the front door for it and Kyler decided that it needed to be placed on the middle of the front step. I guess if we put it there nobody will miss it!

Last Day Of School

Miss Jacqueline and Ella

Kyler's class-this is the best picture I could get. Trying to get 8

2 year olds to sit still at the same time is impossible!

Kyler's class playing outside. Check out Cooper in mid fall!

Miss Barb and Kyler

This year Kyler has been attending "school" at our church. I got him into the program for the socialization aspect of it, not only for him but also for me. I have been lucky enough to be his teacher this year and we have met some wonderful people. Since March Ella has been attending school at church also. Kyler and Ella both seem to really enjoy it. Of course Ella wouldn't tell me that, but a mama knows! Kyler always looks forward to going to school so he can play with all his friends, he also loves to see Miss Juli and Miss Barb. Kyler is really going to miss going to school this summer, but luckily he will be able to attend next year.

Ready For Dance Class

Mommy says my name starts with an E,
but I'm pretty sure the "E" stands for Excellent!

Does this outfit make my bootie look big?

Should I wear this bow with my new outfit?

Or this one?

Or this one?

Happy Mother's Day

Dear Mom,

On this Mother's Day I want to thank you for always being there for me. For always loving me unconditionally (no matter what I did as a teenager:), for always being my rock, for always listening, for always offering me advice-even if I didn't ask for it!, and for always being you. I am so very lucky you have you as my best friend and my mother. I love you.

I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to my favorite Mother in Law. I am very lucky to have been accepted into such a wonderful family. Thank you for always reminding me to stay positive, especially lately. I love you.

Pug Party 2008

Kyler petting one of the pugs that is up for adoption.

Mommy, there are pugs everywhere!

Mommy, that silly pug is licking my fingers. Doesn't she know that I just had those in my mouth!

(Don't worry, I disinfected her hands afterwards!)

For those of you not in the know, we have a little pug named Belle. We got Belle in March 2002 while we lived in Emporia. While Belle has not always been the most innocent pug, she is very well loved in our house. We was our first "child" and we love her dearly. Granted things have changed and she is not given as much attention as she once was since we now have children. One of our favorite things to do with Belle is to attend Pug Parties. We actually have not attended one since I was pregnant with Kyler. We always seem to have something going on on the weekends they are hosted. This year was different. We were actually able to attend. The pug parties are in Auburn (near Topeka) and are hosted by Prairie Pugs Rescue. They have all sorts of different events at the parties. This year they had a silent auction, hot dog contest, costume contest, and pug Olympics. Belle, being the poor pug that she is, didn't participate in any of the events. A couple of years ago we participated in the costume party and Belle and Precious (another pug that we had) won third place. They were a pair of pink fuzzy dice. I made their costume for them and they looked quite cute. This year we couldn't stay very long, we were meeting my family for lunch and then attending my cousins graduation party. Overall, we all had a great time. Thank you to Vicki and Dennis Dressler for all their hard work putting the pug party together. What you guys do for pugs is absolutely amazing.

Valerie holding Ella.

Congratulations Paul! Good luck at K-State next year!

(Paul was scared to death of holding Ella!)
