My Goals For 2010

I thought it would be a good idea for me to post my goals on here for several reasons.

One, this will make me more accountable. If they are on here, you all will see them. Therefore, holding me more accountable!

Two, if I put them on here I can go back periodically and update.

Three, it will end up in the kids (and my) blog book so I will have it as a reminder in future years. If I can do it for one year, by the end of year it will more than likely just become natural (I hope)!

So, here are my goals for 2010.

First and foremost, remain cancer free! Obviously, this is out of my control. This is in God's hands. So, really my goal is to talk to God more and listen to him. He knows what he is doing. Whether I like it or not.

Second, take Kyler and Ella to the zoo, Exploration Place, My Gym, etc. at least every other week. As I reread this, I thought I had better explain that I just mean take them to one or the other every other week. We have a pass to the zoo and Exploration Place. We have a lifetime Membership to My Gym, but we don't take the classes (because they cost an arm and a leg!) but the Free Play is around $10 for an hour of fun.

Third, stop spending so damn much money! I adore shopping. I really do. For the last three months I have documented where all of our money goes. I spend the money. If it weren't for me, my husband would be one rich man. Our kids would only have 5 outfits, but he would be rich! Documenting has really opened my eyes to my spending habits. Setting up a budget is way to difficult because of all of our medical bills. You would think the bills would stop coming, but they don't and they probably never will! One month our medical bills might be $100, and the next month they are $1000! And that's with good insurance! Unfortunately, Cody's insurance changed, and our insurance will suck for this year. Boo!

Fourth, work on more homeschool activities with the kids. I would love to homeschool the kids, but Cody told me no. He doesn't usually tell me no, so he must feel pretty strongly about this. So, for now I am going to just work on doing a couple fun learning activities a week with each of them. I was given permission to homeschool Ella once Kyler is in school. Honestly, she is ready for Preschool now. She is such a smart little girl! One thing that does worry me, that most people don't have to worry about, is what if the cancer returns and I am homeschooling Ella. Then she will miss out on at least half a year of learning, because I will be to sick to teach her. This worries me. But, for now, she is to young for Preschool so I will worry about that later!

Fifth, eat a little bit better. I love junk food (I also get that from my mom! Thanks mom!). I always have and I always will. At this point I have no desire to stop junk food. But I do need to add more fruits and veggies to our diets and cut down on the junk.

Sixth, Do more meal planning. i.e.: cook more meals. I am the Queen of buying the boxed, Homestyle Bake meals. I hate to cook. I find it boring and I hate the mess it makes! But, this goes along with Goal Three and Five. So, if you have super simple recipes that require few ingredients, hook me up!! Or if you know of good websites with easy recipes, send them my way!

Seventh, get Kyler to sleep in his own damn bed! 'Nuff said!

Now the real challenge will be to see if I can keep on top of my goals!

Do you have any goals for 2010? I would love to hear them!

Ella's 2 Year Pictures

For Ella's 2 year pictures I went to a new place in our little town. They did a really nice job with the pictures and with Ella.
Sorry these are so grainy I had to descrease the pixels. The finshed products are BEAUTIFUL!
Ella and Mama

My Pretty Girl

Ella refused to put her baby doll down! So, instead of fighting her....

I had a couple of pictures taken with the baby:) It will be a fun story to tell when she is older:)

Ella in her pretty pink pettiskirt and her Pottery Barn chair that Grandma and Grandpa bought her for Christmas.

Ella and mama hugging it out

Kisses for Mama

She dropped a sticker down her shirt sleeve and I was trying to get it out!

This is her sassy look

All smiles!

I love, love, LOVE this picture! They actually asked for permission to put this picture on their wall!
She is such a beautiful little girl!

Random Randomness

*So far in the month of Jan, I didn't do the best job of "not spending any money!" What did I spend my money on, you ask? Pictures! Lots of pictures. Quite honestly, purchasing pictures of my kids is my biggest splurge. I don't see it as a waste of money, but I definitely need to cut down.

*Kyler is obsessed with playing the Wii these days. And, get this, he rocks at it!

*Now that my energy is getting better, I am going to start doing a bit of homeschooling with the kids. Any good websites?

*I don't have to return to Houston until the middle of February. It's been kind of neat not having to be separated from the kids for the past two months!

*Next week Kyler is being evaluated for the Role Model program at our local school. I am crossing my fingers that he gets in. Going there will be a LOT cheaper than the preschool that he currently attends.

*I do, however, love his preschool. It is a part of our church and our church is like family.

*I love that our church is like family. However, this also means that when we miss church, we get some major flack for it!

*Pureed asparagus is supposed to have cancer shrinking abilities. I have been drinking a nice big glass of it every night. Yummm:)

*Ella has done really well on potty training, but damn is she stubborn! Some days she has 0 accidents. Other days she has, what seems like, a million! Any one else with little girls go through this? Kyler never did this, but he was quite a bit older also.

*My Master's class started last week and so far, so good. I would actually really enjoy it if I didn't have to write 8 6 page papers! The class is about America's First Ladies and quite honestly, they are really interesting.

*Now that I am not on chemo I am gaining weight like crazy!! I don't, however, have any desire to change my eating habits. Pretty sure I won't be losing weight any time soon!

*Since my incision is finally healing, I am going to start Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. We'll see how this goes! Hopefully, that will help me at least firm up a bit...

*Because we leave for our cruise in less than 60 days! I am quite excited, but a little sad. I have to leave the monkeys behind. Booo!

*My husband wants another dog. He says he needs a "man" dog. Honey, if you are reading: IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

The End:)

Party Time!!

For Ella's birthday we had the joy of celebrating twice (well really 3 times if you count our little celebration at home). We had a birthday party at my parents house the day after we celebrated Christmas. Most of my family was able to make it and my BFF from high school was even able to come with her kids. It was a wonderful 2nd birthday party!

Her bootie says, "Happy 2nd Birthday Ella Grace"

I made her cake all by myself:) See, I'm getting better at this whole cooking thing:)

Ella in her birthday shirt and pink and green tutu that her mama made. Well, the tutu anyway.

Isn't she beautiful?

Opening her birthday presents.

Kyler watching....

The birthday girl and her Grandpa

Blowing out the candles on her cake. After Ella blew them out I had to relight the candles so that Kyler could blow them out too! At least he was a good boy and let Ella blow them out first!

She was bouncing up and down on a balloon. How she didn't pop it I have no idea!

Another tush shot!

The unveiling....
For Ella's birthday we bought her a beautiful dollhouse. So far, she loves it and her and Kyler have been playing with it nonstop!

That night we celebrated with a simple cake I bought at the grocery store. It was actually more frosting than cake, but Ella loved her Bear cake and named it "Al." How cute is that!

This past weekend (1/09/10) we had a birthday party at our house for Cody's family and our friends. We had a wonderful turnout and Ella received some fabulous gifts!

She scored this awesome little ride from my parents. It was a hit!

Grandma Penny made this BEAUTIFUL quilt for Ella's big girl bed. This is the prettiest quilt I have EVER seen. It fits her bed perfectly and it really pulls her whole room together. Grandma made her matching curtains also.
Huge Thank You's to everyone that was able to help us celebrate my baby girls' second birthday!

Bad Habits?

I love my kids. I mean I LOVE them. Like love them more than myself. Love them more than anything in the whole world. Love them so much that I would do anything and everything in the world for them.

But, lately they have both become MAJOR mama's babies. I guess I should say Ella has become a major mama's girl. Kyler has ALWAYS been a mama's boy. Always. He was attached to me the second he was born. We have always had an unspoken bond. One that can't and never will, be broken.

But, Ella, Ella is different. Ella is high maintenance in a sense, but also easy going at the same time. She was the one that would go to anyone and do anything for anyone. But now? Now she will only go to mommy. She will only listen to mommy. She will only go night night for mommy. You get the picture.

And, I have to be honest. I love it. I love that my kids love me as much as I love them. I love that they need me. I love that they want to be with me all the time. But, I'll be honest, some days I get a little exhausted. Some days I get a little worried. Some days I get a little scared.

What if I don't make it? What if cancer wins? How will my kids do? Will they understand why mommy can't rock them to bed? Why mommy can't hug them? Kiss them? Cuddle them? Do puzzles with them? How do you even explain that to a little one?

At first, I used to think, if it comes to that Ella will be ok. She's young. She goes to anyone. She will be fine. I know Kyler will have a difficult time without me. Like I said, he's my baby. Always attached. But now, now I know Ella will have a rough time with me too.

So, now I don't have a choice. Now I HAVE to kick cancer's ass. I HAVE to. So, tonight, when you say your prayers would you mind saying one for me? Please pray that this cancer stays away. Like a long, long way away. I will fight, because that's what I do. But, you know, prayers are nice too:)
